Bandipur Tour offers a panoramic view from the location of 27.56° N, 84.25° E at an elevation of 1,030 m on a mountain saddle (Mahabharata Range), approximately 700 m above the Marsyangdi River Valley. It lies 143 km west of Kathmandu and 80 km east of Pokhara. Since 1998, it has been connected by an 8 km access road from Dumre (Kathmandu–Pokhara Highway).

Before that, there was only an unreliable road, usually inaccessible during the monsoon or only passable by tractors. The mountain saddle, only about 200 m long, is barely wide enough to accommodate the main street, lined on both sides by two- or three-storey buildings. Behind these houses, the mountainsides drop steeply, and gardens are accessible only by stairs.

Bandipur Tour in Nepal provides a wonderful experience of combining many attractions in one destination. A well-facilitated resort in an ancient village, nestled in the lap of the mountains and surrounded by natural beauty, makes this tour extraordinary.

Touring in Nepal is one of the most popular activities among travelers, and the Bandipur Tour is especially appealing as it is easily accessible by car or bus, followed by a short walk. The tour also includes Kathmandu sightseeing, a visit to Manakamana Temple, and Bandipur itself.

Bandipur is historically significant. It was established as a trading hub by Newar merchants from Bhaktapur after the Kathmandu Valley was conquered in 1768 by King Prithvi Narayan Shah. They took advantage of Bandipur’s malaria-free location and developed it into an important stop along the India–Tibet trade route. The merchants brought with them their unique cultural heritage and architectural traditions, which have largely remained unchanged to this day.
