Shey Phoksundo Trek is a challenging, remote trek with high passes and incredible mountain scenery, including the waterfall at Dolpo and the Kagmara Pass. Dolpo is located inside the Shey Phoksundo National Park of mid-western Nepal, behind the Dhaulagiri massif, towards the Tibetan Plateau. Cut off by a series of very high passes—closed by snow for most of the year—Dolpo remains a truly isolated corner of Nepal. Time has stood still here for centuries, as the inhabitants of Tibetan origin continue to live, cultivate, and trade the way they have done since time immemorial.
This beautifully preserved ecosystem encompasses a wild and wonderful variety of plants and wildlife, including the blue sheep and snow leopard. A trek through Dolpo is an experience not easily forgotten. Please choose the programs as per your vacation time for trekking in the Dolpo Region. The trek begins at the airstrip of Juphal after a short flight from the Terai town of Nepalgunj, which is well-connected by both road and air from Kathmandu.
This trip is specially designed for Indian tourists who can arrive in Nepalgunj and depart from there with considerably cheaper and high-quality service. We welcome our guests in Nepalgunj and arrange their flight to Dunai, where our trekking crew from Kathmandu will meet them. This itinerary is made for trekkers who wish to meet our crew and us in Nepalgunj. By adding a few more days and cost, we can receive you in Kathmandu, give you a Kathmandu Valley sightseeing tour, and take you to Nepalgunj by flight from Kathmandu.
Dolpo is a remote region of Nepal, and the focal point of this area is Shey Phoksundo National Park. The east and south are bordered by the Dhaulagiri and Churen Himal ranges, and the west by Jumla district. The noteworthy features here include immaculate snowy peaks, ancient and isolated villages, rich wildlife, renowned Buddhist monasteries, and beautiful lakes. The people of this area are simple and warm-hearted, with an enthralling culture and traditions. The cultural traditions of this region are closely linked with Tibet.
