It contains an incredible variety of scenery, from the highest point on earth to the jungle lowlands along the Indian border. Naturally, Nepal is not enough!

A visit to the Everest region is a dream for many adventure lovers around the world. Considered the second most popular trekking destination in the country, the region holds a unique culture, traditions, lifestyle of the local people, rich biodiversity, and majestic mountains. It gained its popularity largely due to the presence of Mt. Everest (8,848m), the world’s highest mountain.

The traditional homeland of the Sherpas—the renowned mountain people who migrated south from the Tibetan Plateau—lies in the shadow of Everest. Exploring the region through colourful village inns allows us to maximize our interaction with Sherpa communities. This trek offers an amazing combination of grand mountain views, captivating scenery, rich history, and cultural experiences, as well as various opportunities to observe the Nepali way of life.

The trek is designed for those who have limited time or cannot trek to higher altitudes. It is also popular among senior citizens. Compared to the Everest Base Camp trek, this journey is considerably shorter. In this trek, we reach as far as Tyangboche Monastery, situated at an altitude of 3,870m.

We enter the Khumbu region by air through the Kathmandu–Lukla flight. It takes around 40 minutes to reach Lukla from Kathmandu. Upon arrival, we refresh ourselves in one of the lodges and start our trek. The journey continues through the lush vegetation of Sagarmatha National Park, with pine forests, rhododendron flowers, and abundant wildlife, eventually leading to Namche Bazaar (3,442m).

A day in Namche is spent for acclimatisation before proceeding to Tyangboche (3,930m), home to one of the highest Buddhist monasteries in the world (4,100m).

The latter days of this adventure will be spent in the delightful villages of Jorsale (2830m) and Khumjung, where we will have the opportunity to interact with the legendary Sherpa people and learn about their traditional lifestyle. Finally, we return to Kathmandu via Lukla.

DETAIL ITINERARY:

Day 01: Kathmandu (1320m)

Arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA). Upon arrival, you will be received by our representative and transferred to your hotel.

Day 02: Kathmandu to Lukla (2886m) and then to Phakding (2640m)

We take an early flight from Kathmandu to Lukla (2886m). After breakfast at a restaurant, we begin our trek to Phakding (2640m). The trail follows a gentle climb up the mountainside on the left bank of the Dudh Koshi. Nupla (5,885m) can be seen a short distance away on the opposite bank. We reach Phakding in the late afternoon.

Day 03: Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3440m)

After breakfast, we start our trek to Namche Bazaar. The trail runs along the right bank of the Dudh Koshi with majestic views of Thamserku. After reaching Bengar, the trail climbs through forests to Chumoa. We pass Monjo and arrive at the Sagarmatha National Park checkpoint.

After crossing the river, we begin a steep ascent to Namche Bazaar. On the way, we enjoy excellent views of Everest (8848m) and Lhotse (8516m). Namche, situated in a mountainous region, is the primary hub for trekking supplies and local trade.

Day 04: Acclimatisation at Namche Bazaar

This rest day helps us adjust to the altitude. We hike to Khumjung Monastery, a small Sherpa settlement offering splendid views of Everest, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Nuptse, Lhotse, Tawche, Kwangde, and more. On our return, we visit the Sherpa Culture Museum above the town.

Day 05: Namche Bazaar to Khumjung (3780m)

After breakfast, we head to Khumjung. The trail climbs to the Shyangboche airstrip. Above it lies the Everest View Hotel, a deluxe hotel built by Japanese standards, offering breathtaking panoramas. Overnight in Khumjung.

Day 06: Khumjung to Tyangboche (3860m)

We trek from Khumjung to Tyangboche. We also visit the renowned Tengboche Gompa at 4,100m. From here, we enjoy spectacular views of Ama Dablam, Everest, and other peaks.

Day 07: Tengboche to Jorsale (2830m)

Today we trek to Jorsale (Thumbug). Several lodges line the main street, and the village often has yaks, cows, and porters passing through. Overnight stay at Jorsale.

Day 08: Jorsale to Lukla (2840m)

On our final trekking day, we pass through several ascents and descents. We walk past the confluence of the Bhote Koshi and Dudh Koshi rivers. The trail crosses the Dudh Koshi before leading us back to Lukla. Overnight stay at Lukla.

Day 09: Lukla – Kathmandu

Early morning flight back to Kathmandu. The afternoon is free for shopping. In the evening, a farewell dinner will be served at Hotel Bhojan Griha, a traditional Nepali restaurant.
